Over the past fifteen years, Brian Bender has occupied various positions in the private and public sectors. Brian is currently employed by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges as a Manager for the Sector Liaison Unit, and Manager for the Rural and Remote Community Initiatives portfolio. From 1999 to 2002, Brian was the Director of Development, Advancement and Public Affairs for the University of Guelph, Alfred Campus. Prior to this, Brian occupied the position of Senior Business Development Manager with the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism and Trade of Ontario where he traveled throughout the province to promote business development and investment as well as a sustainable economy within the francophone communities.
Brian officially began his career working in the field of newspaper publishing and printing and distributing for La Compagnie d'Édition André Paquette and La Société de Gestion André Paquette Inc., where he held the positions of Assistant to the President and Vice President respectively. Shortly thereafter, Brian demonstrated his entrepreneurship skills by founding couples of newspapers for the company, which are still up and running in the United County of Prescott & Russell. Other professional experiences include the supervision of the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, Algeria and Croatia as the Head of Post and Observer in 1997-98-99. Brian is also a former member of the Advisory Council, Business Section of the Province of Ontario (Ontario Training and Adjustment Board); a former President of the Chamber of Commerce and the Industrial Fair for the United County of Prescott and Russell. He was also the youngest Municipal Councilor to be elected for the Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury from 1995 to 2001.
Brian holds a B.A. Soc. Science, Political Science Major, Hon.; B.A. Adm., B.A LLL from the University of Ottawa.
