Speaker Carolyn Cummins

Carolyn Cummins is the Policy Associate for Economic Development at the Washington State Board for community and Technical Colleges. She's responsible for cross-pollinating the roles of 34 community and technical colleges in workforce and economic development efforts across Washington State.

Prior to joining the State Board, Carolyn worked in labor market economics, economic development research, regional planning and rural community development in Washington and Ohio. Among the economic and workforce innovations she's contributed to are an e-commerce analysis of local government adoption of web technology in Ohio, the design of Washington's first-ever Job Vacancy and Employee Benefits surveys, and the creation of a program that awards tax credits to businesses that engage in customized employee training.

Carolyn earned a Master of Science in urban studies and economic development from Cleveland State University in Ohio, and a Liberal Arts degree from The Evergreen State College.
