Karin Nygård Skalman received her Masters of chemical engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology in 1982. She has been working for Ericsson for 20 years in many different positions, the latest as General Manager for Marketing and Sales of Fiber to the Home products. In 2003 she joined the Swedish Research Institute Acreo. She started the work with building a regional innovation system and was granted money from the Swedish Authority of Innovation, Vinnova in 2004. This was achieved in great competition with other regional areas in Sweden.
